Cork Airport

Did you know that the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower began in London’s Gatwick Airport in 2016? From there the Sunflower has spread to be recognised at 200 airports around the world. Here in Ireland, Cork Airport was one of the first organisations to introduce the Sunflower and provide wearers with support, understanding and a little extra time.

Roll forward a few years to November 2021 and Hidden Disabilities Sunflower opened a Regional Office in Ireland. Our team in Ennis decided one of their first tasks was to reach out to Cork Airport and offer support to help raise awareness of the partnership. Today, all of the team working across Cork Airport receive training about non-visible disabilities and know to look out for wearers of the Sunflower at every stage of the journey.

Sunflower lanyards, Sunflower pin badges and Sunflower silicone wristbands are available for passengers to collect from the Customer Assistance Desk located in the airport. The team at Cork Airport are looking forward to helping you!

When flying from Cork Airport, please remember that Irish Citylink provide coach services from Galway, Limerick and Dublin to Cork Airport, and all drivers and customer service staff have received training to recognise the Sunflower.

Ryanair recently joined the Sunflower and have just completed training 18,000 of their flight crew and ground staff. This means that your entire journey via Cork Airport could be a Sunflower journey from home to holiday!

PRM Assist

Sometimes it can be a real challenge to book assistance for an upcoming flight. Especially if the airline reservation is made with an online travel agent. But there is an easier way!

The PRM Assist app was created in 2022, and is a really useful tool when it comes to organising airport assistance. The app is free of charge to sign up to, once you're registered you can then enter all of the information about your journey - airline, travel dates, departure and arrival airport and booking reference sometimes known as the ‘PNR’. Once this is completed, a screen will ask you what assistance is required.

There is also an opportunity to order a Sunflower lanyard to be delivered to your home address using the PRM Assist app.

The PRM Assist app also provides update information regarding departure and arrival , and waiting times for PRM assistance at airports, so passengers can be aware of any potential delays throughout the journey.

As the holiday season is just around the corner we thought it prudent to include a list of all our travel and tourism Sunflower members across the Emerald Isle. Come and experience a Sunflower-friendly Ireland!
