Following on from the success of our Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Stories video series, we've launched a new podcast – the Sunflower Conversations.

The Sunflower Conversations delve into the issue being discussed and offers an understanding of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower's role in supporting people with hidden disabilities. Our hosts discussions with our guests not only offer a personal account of disability, disposing of myths and correcting public perception, but they also expose the affect that disability can have on education, employment and relationships.

A week on from International Epilepsy Day, we spoke to Hannah Wilson in our first podcast about how epilepsy can affect people in different ways. Hannah shares her personal experiences of growing up with the condition - how it has had an impact on her education as well as on employment and her independence. Hannah describes her seizure triggers, SUDEP and how important it is to be open and honest with employers to help break down barriers to employment.

You can listen to the Sunflower Conversations on a variety of Podcast aps including: Apple, Spotify and Overcast or access them directly from our webpage

Look out for our next episode when we'll be speaking to Sam Birtwell, Operations Director at Phoenix Events East, an organisation that recognises and supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and Please give me space initiative. Sam talks to Chantal and Paul about the impact that COVID-19 has had on his business, how they have had to adapt during the pandemic. It promises to be a great listen!
