April was an exciting month for Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Netherlands/Belgium. Now the Covid-19 period is behind us all companies and organisation are busy implementing their accessibility and inclusion policies. Which has meant that many new organisations have joined the Sunflower!

At the beginning of the month the Depot Boymans van Beuningen museum at Rotterdam introduced us to a group of senior managers from other Rotterdam museums. This happily resulted in three more museums signing up to the Sunflower.

Later in the month, the city council of Amsterdam invited us to assist in presenting to the mayor and board of Amsterdam in order to make the City of Amsterdam a Sunflower friendly city. The proposal is now being considered and, we expect more news in May.

The highlight of April was our visit to “de Tweede Kamer” (the Houses of Representatives) in The Hague. The Dutch Government is very interested in implementing the  Sunflower which will be a huge step forwards for the Sunflower in the Netherlands.

The Sunflower is now growing quickly across the region, with more than 452 locations that support the Sunflower. As a result, the Sunflower is becoming widely recognisable across the Netherlands and Belgium.

Over the next few months we expect many more organisations like: museums, schools, public transport and government organisations to join the programme.
