About this experience

Entry to the Book Festival village is FREE and EVERYONE is welcome. The Book Festival's home is Edinburgh College of Art, a leafy courtyard surrounded by listed buildings which house our theatres, broadcasting studio, a cafe, a bar and our own independent book shop. Our courtyard is a lovely sunny spot to sit, think, play and be entertained. Pop in to see your favourite author, grab a cuppa in our cafe, a beer from our bar or to simply sit with a good book (or not!) and enjoy the atmospere. This year we have 650 events with authors from around the world joining us both in-person and online. Our programme of events includes offerings for both adults and children; families and schools and includes authors who represent a wide range of experiences and backgrounds.

We constantly strive to make the Book Festival as accessible as possible. To do this we work closely with organisations including Euan's Guide, Inklusion, Deaf Action and PAMIS, who provide feedback and suggest improvements to our festival village and programme of events.

We have a dedicated Access Officer who can book reserved seating, accessible car parking, BSL interpretation and more. All of our customer-facing staff have taken part in Hidden Disabilities training and are on hand to help visitors from 10am-10pm. We provide sunflower lanyards and badges to visitors in our welcome area.

We have a broad range of free, drop-in and pay-what-you-can events plus we have a big screen in our courtyard where visitors can watch events for free.

We have one of the few Changing Places toilets in Edinburgh city centre and, for the first time, this year we will have a dedicated quiet space available for visitors.
